Bekah Carr Ran At State

bekahcarrJunior Bekah Carr ran the 400m dash at the OHSAA Track and
Field State Championship after easily qualifying at Regionals.

"The Regional final was exciting," said Carr. "I was a little
nervous, but I said to myself 'I'm just gonna win and get it done

And win she did. She placed first at Regionals with a time of 56.82, a
personal best and a Dayton Christian High School record. That meant
that Carr's name will replace the previous record-holder's in the DCHS
record books. And that would just happen to be the name of her older
sister, Mary Carr.

So is there any rivalry between the two, considering the fact that
one of them is .18 hundredths of a second faster than the other?

"No," Carr laughed. "Mary was happy. She'd rather have her sister break her record than anybody else."

DCHS Ladies' Track and Field Coach Gordon Carlson has high praise for Carr.

"Bekah is a wonderful young lady who happens to be a great athlete.
She is a self motivator who, when a goal is defined, works with all her
might to obtain it. She has been leading point scorer on the track team
for the past two years, and this will be her second appearance at the
state meet. It pleases me and many others to see the potential she has
burst to the surface to improve her 400m time in every one of the past
four races on her way to the state. She is top-notch competitor who is
exciting to watch, and I'm looking forward to her run for the gold at
the state meet."

So are we all, Coach Carlson! Run on, Bekah!
