Xenia Christian Track Team is Off and Running

Xenia Christian Track team was in action on Saturday at the Cedarville Impson Invitational. Although the meet was eventually rained out, signs of things to come were noted. Michaela Nelson won the qualifying heat for the 100m dash. Her time of 12.53 is the fastest time in the state for Division III girls at this time. She then put down a 26.50 in the 200m qualifier and finished 2 seconds in front of the rest of the field. Loria Williams won the qualifier for the 100m Hurdles with ease. Kirsten Woodard, Caitlin O’Guin, and Daniel Sampson, new members of the team, also qualified for finals in the sprints. “We had a great season last year, and we have the same runners back plus some new talent this year. We are excited about what God can do with this team .” stated Coach Jim Preston.
Last year the Xenia Christian girls team had an unprecedented season. The small team of 11 girls placed 2nd at Districts, 3rd at Regionals, and sent 3 girls to State who all came home with State Track medals. “The team is excited to see what they can do once we have a full meet and decent weather. We will be running at Blanchester on Thursday.” Commented Coach Robin Norman
