The Power Of Prayer

10/27/2011

The Xenia Christian girls cross country team qualified for Regionals this year bringing a dream come true for senior team captain Natalie Clauson, and an answer to prayer from two years ago. In 2009 when Natalie was a sophomore, her teammate Bethany Norman qualified for Regionals. The Ambassadors had not sent a runner to Regionals since 2004. The morning of Regionals the Xenia Christian team arrived at Troy in full support of their single runner. They set up the team tent on Regional ground and gathered in prayer around the tent asking for God to eventually send a team through to Regionals. Natalie Clauson was one of those in attendance. She faithfully trained beside Bethany in 2009 and 2010 to prepare her for State competition as an individual qualifier, but yet no Regional race for Natalie.
Then moving forward to October 22, 2011 at the Miami Valley Tech Center where teams gathered for District competition. God prepared the path with a new change for Division III teams. This year the girls were split into two races with 4 teams from each race qualifying to go to Regionals. Xenia Christian girls had run well all season with several 3rd place team finishes in big meets. Natalie Clauson, the now senior team captain, has led her team well through out the season. At Districts the Ambassador girls toed the line with many schools far greater in size than themselves. Not many would expect a team of only 6 girls to be able to do much in heavy competition. However, on Saturday the girls put out everything they had and as a team, they captured 3rd place to advance to Regionals as the only team from the Metro Buckeye Conference going on. Natalie Clauson’s dream of racing at Regionals will come true on Saturday, October 29th and God has answered the prayers of the past teammates who prayed around the team tent two years ago. Bethany Norman, Carrie Clauson, Sarah Kensinger, Natalie Clauson, Caitlin O’Guin, and Morgan Phillips will be representing Greene County at the Regionals Cross Country meet this weekend.
