5 high school wrestling storylines you'll want to follow

Who will win it all: With Graham at the Clash National Duals, there will be a new team champion this year. Centerville and Ryle (Ky.) tied for second last season with 140 points.

All (almost) new champs: Northmont senior Jonah Newburg is the lone returning champion at the Holiday this season, guaranteeing at least 13 new champs.

Freshmen phenoms: The GMVWA does not seed freshmen, but there are several who could make an impact, including Miami Valley’s Matthew Kolodzik and Bellbrook’s Cameron Kelly — both at 106.

How the new weights shake out: This is the first season with the new weight classes, which has added an additional upper weight while eliminating 140. At the Ironman at Walsh Jesuit earlier this month, there were just 21 wrestlers at 195 while 182, 220 and 285 had just 27 wrestlers out of 72 teams. How full will the top four weight classes be this weekend?

Opening weight battle: The 106-pound class looks to be one of the stronger weight classes, with upperclassmen Troy Barklay (Centerville) and Josh Heidkamp (Butler) to go along with freshmen Kolodzik, Kelly, Michael May (Eaton) and Jarrod Ganger (Troy Christian).
