DC Hires New Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

DAYTON, Ohio (September 4, 2018) – Dayton Christian School announces the hiring of Kathy Hill as the school’s next head varsity girls basketball coach.

Hill brings with her more nearly 25 years of basketball coaching experience including a position as the girls varsity basketball coach at Centerville High School. During her tenure at Centerville High School, Hill’s teams were Conference and District Runners-Up each year, and she was named Conference Coach of the Year twice.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Kathy to our coaching staff, and are confident she has the experience needed to take our varsity girls basketball program to the next level,” said Ben Shroyer, athletic director at Dayton Christian. “We are thankful for the dedication former head coach Paul Orme gave to our girls basketball program and the solid foundation he left for Kathy to build upon.”

Orme coached the Lady Warriors basketball team for nine years and accumulated over 100 career wins, and said he will always remember the one word his team used to describe their culture: Family.

“This is truly a sign of Christian community,” said Orme is a 1990 Dayton Christian graduate. “Potential is great this coming year and into the future.”

Hill will be joined by Shelby Maloney, who will become one of the team’s assistant coaches. Maloney has an extensive coaching career including both boys and girls teams across the Dayton market.

DC parents and students will have the chance to meet Hill as well as other girls basketball coaches for this year’s upcoming season at an open house on September 11 at 8 p.m. in the school’s Building A auditorium. Hill said she is eager to renew her coaching career in this new role at Dayton Christian.

“As I look forward to this new venture one verse sticks in my mind,” Hill said. “Psalm 91:1 says ‘He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.’”
