Bourbonnais, IL - Legacy Christian Academy Senior Liz Miller has signed to play golf at Olivet Nazarene University beginning in the fall of 2021. The ceremony was hosted by Sugar Valley Golf Club in Bellbrook, Ohio. Sugar Valley, a Geoffrey Cornish designed course that underwent a re-design and renovation by internationally-known golf course architects Jack Kidwell and Mike Hurdzan, serves as Miller’s home course.
Miller has been a known fixture in the Southern Ohio PGA Players Tour and Golfweek National Junior Tour since 2016, as well as many local tournaments and events. She ended the 2019 touring season with four top 10 finishes and, competing in OHSAA sanctioned tournaments and invitationals, tallied five additional top 10 finishes on her junior year resume. She was the Individual Medalist in OHSAA Sectional Tournament in 2017 and 2019, and won Tournament Medalist for 2018, becoming the school’s first golfer advancing to the State District Tournament in three consecutive seasons. Legacy Knights Athletic Director, Bev Moser, said of Miller, “We are so proud of Liz and all her high school accomplishments. It was fun to watch all her hard work and dedication pay off on the course and be there to cheer her on! We are looking forward to following her colligate career.”
Under the leadership of Mr. Bill Johnson, Director of Golf and women’s Head Coach, the ONU Women’s Team has won six conference titles and made five appearances in the national championships during his nine-year tenure. “On behalf of Olivet Nazarene University and the Olivet Nazarene University Golf Program, I want to welcome Liz and her family to our University family! It’s difficult to put into words the gratitude we all feel for her choosing Olivet. I first met Liz when she was in eighth grade, as she was falling in love with golf. I have watched Liz’s game develop over the years since. Liz is a Golfer - a term I take seriously. A Golfer is someone who loves the game, appreciates the tradition of the game, and embraces the game with their heart. Moreover, Liz has the capacity to be a great leader, a leader who leads by example, hard work and dedication on the golf course and in the classroom. We are all excited to watch her legacy develop and to witness the mark she will leave on her four years at Olivet.”
Olivet Nazarene University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and part of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
